Any Turkish citizen who meets the requirements can apply for an ordinary (burgundy) passport. However, specific criteria must be met to obtain a green, black, or gray passport.

To obtain a passport, an appointment must be scheduled through the official passport application page. After accessing the page, the type of passport and the place of issuance are selected. Personal information must be entered correctly and completely.

Once the appointment is scheduled, the required documents must be prepared and submitted to the relevant institution on the given date.

What Documents Are Required for a Passport?

The required documents vary depending on the type of passport. However, in general, the following documents are needed:

• Identity card
• Biometric photo
• Payment receipt for passport fee and booklet fee
• Previous passport (if available)
• Consent form for minors

Additionally, fingerprint registration with the authorities is required before applying for a passport.

What is the Validity Period of a Passport?

The fee paid during the application depends on the requested validity period of the passport.

Countries grant visas based on the minimum passport validity period. This period is usually six months, but some countries accept passports valid for 1, 3, or 12 months.

How Much Are Passport Fees in 2024?

When obtaining a passport, two payments are required: a passport fee and a booklet fee. The latest fees can be found on the official website.

Fees for 2024 are as follows:

• 6 months: 1,639.35 TL (fee) + 793.00 TL (booklet) = 2,432.35 TL
• 1 year: 2,396.63 TL + 793.00 TL = 3,189.63 TL
• 2 years: 3,912.62 TL + 793.00 TL = 4,705.62 TL
• 3 years: 4,845.31 TL + 793.00 TL = 5,638.31 TL
• More than 3 years: 7,833.77 TL + 793.00 TL = 8,626.77 TL

Special and service passports are exempt from the fee. The maximum validity period for minors is five years.

Student passports are exempt from fees if certain conditions are met.

How to Renew a Passport?

To renew a passport, an application must be submitted to the provincial or district population directorate. An appointment can be scheduled online or via the ALO 199 Citizen Interaction Center.

The renewal process can be completed by submitting the required documents along with the old passport.

There is no separate fee for renewal. Standard passport fees apply to renewals as well.
